As part of the anniversary project “50 for 50”, accompanying the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, we invite you to an outdoor screening of the powerful drama Silent Twins.
This haunting film tells the story of the extraordinary bond between sisters June and Jennifer Gibbons, who shut themselves off from the world and communicated only with each other. Silent Twins won the Golden Lions at the Gdynia Film Festival in 2022, was featured in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, and received a nomination for the European Film Awards. It stands out for its hypnotic storytelling and evocative visual language.
The film was directed by Agnieszka Smoczyńska, whose acclaimed debut The Lure (2015) brought her international recognition, including an award at the Sundance Film Festival. Her work blends realism with elements of fairy tale, exploring themes of identity, femininity, and alienation.

As part of the “50 for 50” project, funded by the Pomeranian Film Foundation, two more film events will take place:
August 30 (Saturday), 7:00 PM – Kill It and Leave This Town (Zabij to i wyjedź z tego miasta) – open-air screening followed by a conversation with director Mariusz Wilczyński.
September 20 (Saturday), 6:00 PM – All Our Fears (Wszystkie nasze strachy), dir. Łukasz Ronduda & Łukasz Gutt – screening (Theatre Hall) followed by a discussion with the film’s protagonist, artist and activist Daniel Rycharski.
The “50 for 50” project is organized by the Pomeranian Film Foundation in Gdynia, producer of the Polish Film Festival.
The project is held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Gdynia, and co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Polish Film Institute.
The project’s main partner is the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute (FINA).
